Cypripedium - Lady's Slipper Orchids

One group of people exposed themselves to great danger to find new, not described species of orchid - they were the orchid hunters. In the rush to keep finding new species and/or varieties that were as rare as possible, many met a premature and unnatural end.

For me, the Lady's Slipper and Venus' Slipper genera and varieties are of the greatest interest as a collector, scientist and researcher. This website is concerned only with Lady's Slipper orchids of the Cypripedium genus.

The pictures of plants in bloom in particular are a clear expression of what nature can achieve.
